because these coaches aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The big question for me is this: Is this a one time, perfect storm type anomaly, after which we will revert right back to the previous level the program was at (20+ win seasons, easily qualifying for the NCAA tournament)? Or, are there more serious long term problems that mean in 2020-21 we will be at a lesser level than we were at before, and have to rebuild the program back to its previous level.
I’m going to be optimistic and say it’s the former, although that takes a leap of faith and requires contributions from a lot of players who have never competed in a Mizzou uniform before, between freshmen and transfers.
I’m pretty certain we will get significant contributions from Dufficy and Dickson next year, as they both have successful D1 experience. Freshmen are always a crapshoot until you actually see them play and perform at a high level. And the post player transfer from SC I have no idea how much she will contribute. She barely played at SC and averaged about a point a game her first two years. Is she a legit impact SEC type player? We will see.
We have exactly 2 players playing on this years team coming back next year who are legit SEC type talent, Blackwell and Frank. That’s not enough. An outside argument could be made for Troup I guess but she would need to show significant improvement and consistency the rest of this year. So our fate next year will depend in large part on the transfers, redshirts, and freshmen.
