McConnell might just go ahead and schedule the trial phase and notify the House to put up or shut up. Clearly, they conducted bogus investigative hearings in the House and produced no evidence of an impeachable offense. That's why Pelosi is attempting to pressure McConnell into allowing a Senate investigation, instead of merely holding a trial. She is even trying to get the courts involved, but the courts have no jurisdiction in an intra-branch dispute between the House and Senate.
