Attendance doesn’t hurt, but I think it’s a byproduct of winning much more than a precursor to it.
I’d further argue that Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas hardly present fan-enthusiasm juggernauts, and our four non-conference opponents don’t in any given year, either. Fan attendance hasn’t stopped us from handling Tennessee or Florida in the past, and we’ve won at Georgia. So I don’t buy that our attendance issues are a relevant factor in success.
And that last part is all that matters: success. He believes he can win here. The other factors take care of themselves when you do that. Larry Smith proved that in the ‘90s, and Pinkel did in the 2000s. Drinkwitz obviously sees the same potential here that they did, making those concerns of yours not even worth considering for him.
