Good question. I think she needs more consistent recruiting. Her recruiting was average, as were her teams, before Sophie and Cierra Porter. The first two years after Sophie/Cierra, she recruited poorly. That is reflected in this year's senior and junior classes, which have only one SEC starter-quality player (Amber).
She then recruited 3 top 100 players into this years sophomore class, but two left and the third has not been productive. This year's freshman class is very strong, with two potential superstar players. Next year brings a top 100 center, and the three transfers who are now on the bench. Next year's team could be her best ever.
She has highly ranked players committed in the future who are now sophomores and freshmen in high school. She is in on a fair number of other top recruits in the next couple of classes.
To move the program to the next level she needs to connect on a few more recruits and fit the pieces together. If she does, we'll be very good.
If she doesn't, then the AD needs to decide what he wants from WBB, which is and will always be a non-revenue-producing sport. I suspect that at a university like ours, it will be acceptable to have a program which is at least average all the time, and has occasional forays into being well above average or outstanding. That is what she seems to be doing, and I suspect she will be here for as long as she wants to be.
