My initial thoughts on the hire...B-/C+

I thought we would get one of the following:

- Older coach with significant P5 HC experience
- Recent SEC coordinator with non-P5 HC experience
- Current SEC coordinator with past HC experience
- Pinkel like with multiple years non-P5 HC experience

Instead, we got basically another Odom with except a year of HC experience. Not necessarily a bad hire, but an ok hire.

The good - good offensive mind from what I can see; nothing glaring from a personality standpoint...he seems to be wanted and successful...either gets promoted where he was, or lands better and better gigs. Seemed capable of putting together a good staff at App State

the not so good - Not a long career in SEC territory....has not really had a chance to recruit and develop his own players anywhere...not really sure he brings excitement to the program and sells out our stadium fast

the big question to me..how does he put his staff together, and what sort of budget will he be given to get this done.

Three possible outcomes

- We get another Odom record...and looking for a new coach in 4 years
- Success and he moves to a better job (we then get an even better coach)
- He gets 100 wins and another Pinkel or better.
