I think nearly everyone would agree that:
(1) it is unreasonable to allow individuals in the US to possess atomic bombs;
(2) it is reasonable to allow individuals in the US to possess a pocket knife for use as, amongst other things, a weapon if necessary.
Therefore the issue is: where do you draw the line between acceptable to own and unacceptable to own?
And if you deem that something is unacceptable to own...what do you do with the people that already own such thing?
If automatic weapons such as AK-47 etc (and forgive me if I'm butchering the terminology) are deemed a problem it seems to me a solution would be to ban the sale, import or manufacture of those weapons.
I don't believe such a law would infringe upon 2A as 2A states that the "right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I.e., you do NOT mandate buy-backs, confiscations, etc.
So how's that for $0.02?
