I currently agree with your optimistic view. But we also are coming off one of the 5 worst seasons in our program's modern era and our recruiting is not keeping pace with the programs we are competing against. Many of those same programs have made significant commitments to men's basketball in the last couple of years and considerably upgraded their coaching staffs. While the talent is obviously going to be much higher than when Cuonzo took on this rebuilding effort, if reports are true that this is the final season Tilmon plans to play for MU that would leave us pretty much without any SEC level difference making talent going forward.

Without a good season this year, we could easily settle into being a middling SEC program for some time. And that wouldn't be bad based on where we started, but I don't think that is where anyone wants MU men's basketball to be either.
