What farming subsidies?

There are no farm subsidies for the crops commonly grown in the Midwest, i.e. corn and soybeans.
There are safety net programs that come into play if the prices of corn and soybeans fall. They are not all that different than unemployment compensation band benefits.
There is one program, the Conservation Reserve, that pays farmers to take land out of production. It requires a 10 year commitment.
Finally, there is a program to offset the decline in the price of soybeans that has resulted from the trade war with China. It has reduced soybean exports by about 50%.
Bluntly, most of you who post about farm subsidies are not up date on the current Ag programs. They are currently far different that ten or fifteen years ago.
