The UCLA #2 pitcher is not your usual #2. She would be the ace on almost all staffs so the UCLA coach as well the players had great confidence in her. That's why she started the game. But the UCLA coach and players also have supreme confidence in Garcia and surely believe that she's the absolute best college softball pitcher. You would absolutely not believe how many Bruin fans wear a #1 jersey (Garcia's #). She can't have that large a family. And the last thing on the UCLA coach's mind was to worry about the confidence of the #2 pitcher.She and everyone else knows that Garcia is #1 and if needed she is the one turn to. Confidence, schmondifence.

So when we got our first two batters got on in the first inning of the Sunday game, the UCLA coach made the pitching change and put ace Garcia in. I thought it was a very smart move. She was telling her team, "Do not sleep on these guys, we are not messing around, we need our best to beat them and let's go for it".

Yes, Garcia wears #00. I miss typed.
