of not qualifying for the NCAA tournament, and, if they do qualify, of not getting an at large bid.

First the eligibility question. Now they are 25-21, just 4 games over .500. Lucky for them they play 2 against a woeful, 4-36 Incarnate Word team next Wednesday, which will take them to 27-21. But then they close with Arkansas at home and Tennessee on the road. Arky just finished whipping a top 10 LSU team twice to take the series, and they have two really good pitchers, so it’s not inconceivable TAMU gets swept by both teams, finishes the regular season at .500, setting up a situation where they are forced to win their first game in the SEC tournament, in College Station, to finish with at least a .500 record.

Regarding an at large bid, if they are eligible, that was dealt a serious blow by our sweep. Before this weekend, they were regarded as firmly on the bubble, and projected as one of the last 4 teams in by two reasonable bracket projections. And if they finish 1-5 or 0-6 in their last 6 SEC contests, I don’t think they get an at large bid. Lucky for them the competition for the last few bids isn’t that special.
