not solely because the rules are enforced differently. It's different because the players play with vastly more intensity and a much higher % of pucks are contested.

You see more contact, less space and your eye thinks it's all outside the rules. Mainly, it isn't.

Building a team for the reg season and for they playoffs can be a different thing, but not really because tripping, boarding and cross-checking aren't called. Those are called.

there's just less willingness for a team like Columbus to give a team like Tampa free space to let their smaller forwards operate.
