We can create policy without resorting to xenophobia. There are bad elements within every demographic. They don't define the group.
The impact this has had on the Hispanic community is it has been degrading to all of us. Trump is not appealing to nuanced legalisms. It had bled over to old fashioned, basic racism.
One of the worst things about Trump is he appeals to the worst in people, something we have until now agreed is what we don't want in a president. We've always been better than that until now. And his appeal is designed to divide the country into two camps: pro-Trump and anti-Trump. It's about his brand over country and people are falling for it. You don't have to become a democrat to recognize what is happening.
