Mizzou has underperformed in each of the first 3 NCAA tournaments during Sophie’s career. Twice we were non competitive on a national seeds home court in the second round, and last year couldn’t even win a first round game, getting upset by a 12 seed. We haven’t gotten remotely close to the sweet 16. You just never know which Mizzou team is going to show up. The one who won at Miss St could of course beat both Drake and Iowa. The one which showed up at way too many games this year won’t win a game.
The first take by experts is that Drake is very underseeded. It’s funny, the ESPN projections were very, very accurate. Except for us and Drake, and we end up playing each other. Strange. Of the 40 teams on the 1-10 seed lines, ESPN nailed the exact seed of 27/40. 11 more teams had a seed only 1 line different. 2 teams were each seeded 2 lines lower, us and Drake.
