And ESPN would be way off in their projections.
Drake was a solid 7 seed, then dropped to an 8 after they got upset in their tourney final to MO State. Dropping them another 2 spots would be interesting, although they could be a 9 dropped to a 10 with a procedural bump for a closer regional.
Mizzou has been a solid 5 seed. Dropping them another 2 seeds would be strange, but not unheard of. Going by RPI, Mizzou would be an 8 seed. So a 7 is not out of the question.
And if true, Iowa is the 2 seed we would have a ghost of a chance against, as opposed to UConn, Oregon, or Stanford. Of course we would need to get past Drake first. They are talented and well disciplined, something we are not. They beat SC this year, which is way more than we could do. They are way better than the FGCU team we lost to in the first round last year.
I think we have a better resume than a 7 seed, but it could be a 6 with a procedural bump. Seeding us 7 and TAMU 4 would be a joke, but jokes happen with the selection committee in both men and women’s BB.
