using all the scholarships.
Beverly looks like a good player but is not a position of great need and we want better ones in 2020.
Not sure about Gardner. Clearly rather have Fletcher and Kasubke in 20.
Thinking our ideal play here would be.
2019
McKinney, Jackson
Find a grad transfer PF.
Maybe sign Beverly.
If we do bring in those two additional players, that gives us.
PG - Dru - Pinson
Wing - Mark - Santos - Watson - Pickett - McKinney - Beverly?
Forward - Mitch - Jackson - Grad Transfer
Center - Tilmon - Nikko
That is 13 scholarships with Beverly, Suggs & Braun in question. Most of you ignore class balance as a factor, but we've seen it cause us problems time and time again. We'd be looking at: Sr - 2, Jr - 5, So - 3, Fr - 3. Not ideal, but improving.
I know a lot of people want to see Mitch, Santos, and Nikko go, but that's not clear cut. Nikko has 1 year left, no incentive to leave, and we don't have a prospect for a backup Center for next season. Santos is out of options unless he goes D2. Mitch is improving very slowly. The best option for him is probably to play next season, get his degree, and grad transfer next year.
2020
Nikko and Grad Transfer Forward graduate.
Mitch Grad transfers...maybe
Santos leaves if he does not find his game again.
That opens up 4 spots, the max you want to put into one class.
Sign, Love at PG, Christopher or Fletcher on the Wing, and then the best Forward and Center we can get.
Giving us:
PG - Pinson - Love
Wing - Dru, Mark, Watson, Pickett, Christopher/Fletcher, Beverly?
Forward - Jackson - Fr forward
Center - Tilmon - Fr Center
We'd be better if Mitch comes around and can backup the Forward instead of a freshman and then we find a good frosh the next year.
I guess, ideally we're not overloading the wing like this and find a good big man. 6-7 guys to rotate 2 spots is going to create unhappiness. But that's where our regional talent is falling.
