been on a D1 staff in any capacity in the prior century. He was so far removed for such a prolonged amount of time.

He obviously didn't have the skill set to succeed regardless, but it didn't help that he didn't have the credibility or connections or ability to build a staff or any of the other things that were caused by him being away from D1 basketball for so long.
