the greatest financial machine ever seen on the face of the earth is the federal government.
Control of that money is the ultimate power, and the disbursement of it and its ancillary funds is THE reason political parties exist.
And the most beautiful part is the loyal legions of naive foot soldiers both are able to employ to chant and cheer the message that one or the other "cares".
Any fool who thinks that any member of either wing of the one party cares about the wants, needs, goals and dreams of the citizen truly needs to be evaluated in a mental institution.
