While there are no doubt high schools in Texas whose enrollment exceeds that of TCU's, the Horned Frogs are indeed a university affiliated athletically with a P5 conference.
Personal or professional relationships between coaches and teams within the same metro area I don't believe would be all that uncommon. Kind of like how you hook up with some of your like minded friends, Mothball, without of course the zima and the oil and the trailer house shaking on Shady Lane.
