But right now, it is looking like he's a guy that can coach the hardworking midrange guys and not the elite guys.
The name Texas, which even though it's never been a basketball school, got him some very elite talent. Likely because football was at the very top and boosting Texas' name at that time.
He had a lot of success building Texas, then when as his talent got better and better, he did not coach'em up the same way.
Some guys just relate to different types of guys. Take Norm for example. His coaching was clearly better when his talent was weaker.
