although it appears we are in the minority regarding Levys playing time. It's a tough call for coach RP, she's not going to improve and settle down without more playing time, but how much playing time does she get if she isn't producing.
I really don't have a good handle on this team yet just 9 games into the season. I think the potential is there to make a run at a national seed in the 14-16 range, and there are also enough concerns that we could end up being a bubble team and barely make the NCAA tournament as a 9 or 10 seed and get bounced the first weekend as usual. That's a pretty wide margin of upside and downside.
Getting Garner healthy and hopefully getting quality minutes from her would be nice. But she's just a freshman too, who knows if she is ready for this level of competition yet.
As someone else said, we are getting literally nothing from the sophomore class, you wonder if and when an SEC caliber player will emerge from that group.
I'm disappointed too that the promised defensive pressure is hard to see so far. That's a great equalizer for a team with the kind of weaknesses we have. Auburn stays close with better teams with their pressure, trapping defense, and we were supposed to see a lot of that, particularly with their star player as a grad assistant (Frerking).
But sometimes the game is really simple, you have to be able to score, and that's what needs the most improvement. At least 2-3 players other than Sophie and Amber have got to become consistant 10-12 point scorers, and I don't mean Schuchts scoring 25 one game and 0 the next. She, Berg, Troup, Aldridge, Chavis should be the group where we get more consistant scoring from, but it hasn't happened yet. If no one emerges from that group, it's going to be a long season, no matter how well Sophie and Amber play.
