Thought you guys would appreciate this. I found it while reading an article about Koufax's retirement.
1940: In an act of sportsmanship that has stood tall for decades, Cornell gave back a football victory to Dartmouth after learning that the referee had inadvertently given it an extra down on which it scored the winning touchdown in the final seconds. Cornell agreed that such a victory would not be honorable, and the record has since shown Dartmouth the victor, 3‚0.
Many of you know this, but I did not.
I WAS listening to Wilkerson's broadcast in 90 when he said "Wait, what down was that?" (or whatever it was). I was only half paying attention, since I was trying to line up a motor installation by myself in the garage.
It's almost game day...Go Big Orange (yeah, I said it).
