Disappointing loss for VB last night, but I'm not sure...

it really affected our postseason that much. We were a long shot to be in the conversation for a national seed 10 days ago, and that depended on us winning out, including wins over SC, UT, and UK. Even then, we would potentially be fighting teams like Florida, Purdue, Michigan, Washington, etc to squeeze into that conversation, and the lack of anything close to a quality win in non conference play, and the general weakness of both our non conference and conference schedules made that a long shot.

Now we are stumbling towards the finish, blowing a commanding lead on the road against SC, barely beating (almost getting swept) by a mediocre, crippled Georgia team at home, then getting embarrassed at home by UT, and now Kentucky looming on Sunday. At this point we are probably going to end up with an RPI rank somewhere in the 30-35 range roughly, with one signature win over Florida, and not much else to hang our hat on regarding a tournament worthy resume. Certainly a win over UK would help, but not significantly so IMO. We will be one of the worst #2 seeds in a regional, or one of the best #3 seeds at this point. I would rather be a 3 regional seed in a regional with Creighton and Northern Iowa, for example, than a 2 seed at an Illinois, Nebraska, or some other top 10 national seed team from the B1G or PAC. At least then we might have a fighting chance to pull a big upset.

Playing at our best, we can hang with really good teams, like our win at Florida showed. But we seem to be trending in the wrong direction the last 4 games. Hope the light flies back on against UK on Sunday.
