will form the core of an elite, SEC caliber pitching staff and lead Mizzou back to the top 10-15 type program they were in past years. Or not.

A stud transfer would certainly help too. Weber was supposedly the potential ace in this class, an EE verbal for awhile. Nichols, the lefty from Hillsboro, verballed to Iowa a long time ago, but Anderson got her to flip to Mizzou. But clearly Schumacher is the potential gem of this class, and the first tangible evidence of dividends from hiring Coach Anderson. She is the highest rated of the three incoming freshmen, committed to Hofstra several years ago, really wanted to play for her, then opened her recruiting up when Coach Anderson left Hofstra to come to Mizzou. She got a number of offers from P5 conference teams, including Georgia (which should tell you something about her talent), and decided to follow Anderson to Mizzou.

Remember folks, Coach Anderson was handed an awful pitching situation by the previous head coach. Mizzou had the worst pitching staff in the SEC last year, with not a single one of their 5 pitchers finishing in the top 40 in ERA in the conference. Building an elite, SEC caliber pitching staff is probably not going to happen overnight and people need to have some patience with this. I'll be surprised if the three 2019 pitching transfers Coach LA brought in during the summer will contribute much (hope I'm wrong about that), but she had to do something, anything, to try and improve the situation she inherited. Just like the previous coach, in similar desperation, did for 2018 when he brought in two long shot transfers from D2 and the NAIA (Daniel, Scates) who didn't contribute much at all their first years here.

I was hoping Coach LA would make a run at Missouri native Olivia Kinsey, who left the Oregon team. She may still have her sights set on Kinsey, don't know. I don't see that she signed with anyone for 2019 (someone correct me if she did). I saw something on social media that her mom has some kind of serious illness to deal with, so she may just be taking a year off from softball for family reasons, idk.

Hoping Schumacher and the other two signees, plus Judge, the highly touted but seldom used transfer from Oklahoma State and Minnesota, will form the core of a great pitching staff for the 2020 season and beyond. And for the second time, a stud transfer would really, really be appreciated.
