and remember asking him about his base offense and the curious handoff fakes. He drew plays on a napkin, explaining how they were setting the line's blocks. Found him to be almost grandfatherly, quiet spoken, introspective, confident in his own skin; very knowledgeable. He'd beaten the best; lost to the worst. Didn't have the charisma or motivational skills Devine had; but quite a coach. Was always a guy I rooted for, and after he passed and I saw the outpouring of condolences from the Mizzou family .. knew I wasn't alone.
