I do agree with you that he seems to feel he has the point guard position covered and that Geist is more of an answer than I give him credit for. I hope that really isn't the case and is mostly posturing in the absence of an alternative position available to him, because that would be way more problematic if he does believes that than simply a recruiting miss. His handling of the pg options he did have last year was curious at best.
I don't think its valid to just assume that Martin gets the need for high level point guard play. As this indicates:

I'm not sure there is evidence of that being the case traditionally among Gene Keady's coaching tree. Certainly this curious notion of promoting an approach of being positionless lends more credibility to him maybe not really grasping the importance.
