I don't remember Missouri getting the "nothing to see here

My guess is the athletes all knew what was going on. A lot of student non-athletes knew it was going on. A few coaches may have known. AD didn't want to know and didn't ask any questions.
That's in contrast to North Carolina which was set up by the university with the intent of committing systematic academic fraud but either was set up in such a way it was impossible to prove or the NCAA didn't want to bring down a national power.
Maybe the NCAA is to busy worrying about the FBI to focus on little old Missouri.
