you down on makes.
The most ideal circumstances for speed in 3-pt shooting is in a 3-pt contest. The only way you could do it any faster is to take all 25 shots in one spot, but where's the skill development in that.
Under ideal conditions, a lot of guys struggle to get 25 shots off in 60 seconds. Yes, they always get to 20, which was the number per minutes in my example. BUT, fatigue sets in on experience 3pt shooters who are shooting that fast and they slow down. Also, again, ideal conditions and just over 20 / min is hard to do. I mean that is race pace. It is not practice pace.
So my point here was that it takes a lot of time to shoot 1000 shots. Under the fastest possible conditions and assuming zero fatigue, you could theoretically get 1000 shots up in 40 minutes.
1...there is not a human alive who could maintain that pace
2...even if you tried, you would not be actually practicing the shot but just throwing the ball at the basket.
It's taking quite a bit of time for JT to do this. Time that would be better served working on other areas of his game. If he were shooting 100 3's a day, it would be pretty reasonable.
