idea to move Pierce behind the plate. We're not getting any offense from that position, and she could provide some leadership for the young pitchers. And I've always wondered what kind of a first baseman Romaine would make. The problem, of course, is her leg. Romaine didn't play at all in the LSU series. A first baseman with a bum leg is not a formula for success.
Kessinger's back problems seem to be keeping her off the field as well, although she's performing well at the plate. Even healthy, she has a tendency to make any ball hit to her in the outfield an adventure. I'd love to see Bange get some time at DH. But if Kessinger is unable to play in the field, she is the stronger option at that position.
A healthy Romaine and Kessinger would give Fogue a lot more options.
