The Royals won a WS by putting the ball in play, i think

Houston went from K'ing the most or close to it to having the fewest K's offensively last year and won the WS.

I'm sure coaches know this but they still don't recruit like they know it. I think it's because every coach things you can teach players to make contact, or catch the ball, or throw accurately.

I'm not saying players can't acquire those skills but by the time most kids are about a Jr in HS they can either do those things or can't and they're probably not going to improve on them much.
