college teams recruiting is that's not what they look for in recruiting.

In college baseball they recruit the following things.

Bat speed, how hard you throw either from the mound, across the infield or from the outfield and your 60 yard dash.

Things that seem lost on college coaches.
1. Can you actually make contact with a baseball.
2. Can you catch the ball and throw accurately
3. Can you actually run the bases

The 60 time is the one that puzzles me the most. How often does a baseball player run 60 yards in a straight line? I would suggest a baseball player would never do that. I'd have them run 60's...i guess, but i'd have them running first to third and have them run through the bag...or i'd just time them from home to first off live pitching and not even run a 60.

If recruiting was left to me i'd recruit in order.

Players who can catch and throw the baseball well and accurately (obviously they'd have to have a level of arm strength)

Players who put the ball in play and don't strikeout.

I'd want as many 4.2 or less home to first guys as possible and they better know how to run the bases. If i had a dollar for every 6.8 second 60 kid who didn't know how to run the bases i'd be a rich man. Give me the 7 flat kid who knows what he's doing.

Pitching is tough, i don't know much about pitching mechanics and things like that but i know from coaching the position side of it what i'd like. Guys who can throw strikes!!! That being said, it's nice to have swing and miss guys. Pitching is one place i'd tend to look more at the size of players. I could care less how tall any of my position players are aside from 1st base. I'd probably recruit tall pitchers though...they don't seem to get hurt as much and pick up more velocity.

I'd also have at least one or two crafty lefties...the guys that you can't believe you can't hit but they always give you trouble.
