making. You say the last 2 ADs have played a part in the downfall of the team, and that Sterk "hung EE out to dry and looked for reasons to can him". And that other coaches have recruited players by using negative information about EE and his future here. The last statement is undoubtably true.
What I'm perplexed about though Is how that all (even if you buy the first part of your statement, which I don't) has affected the current roster, including the pitching staff which is the worst in the SEC by a large margin.
You do understand how recruiting works in college softball, right? By the time there was any hint of a problem with EE, in the spring of 2016, our 2017 freshman class, including Parker Conrad, Kessinger, Burnside, Garrison, Kooyman, etc had already signed their LOIs in November 2015 to come here. None of them backed out of coming here after the drama in the spring and summer of 2016. They all showed up in August 2016. So that group, and everyone here before them, were EEs hand picked recruits before the 2016 drama.
Even after the flap in early 2016, the next class, who signed their LOIs in November 2016, also showed up here in August 2017. That's the current group of freshmen here now, Wilmes, Bailey, Martin, Rice, etc. I'm not aware of any verbally committed player in the current freshman class who backed out and decommitted after the drama in 2016. Maybe you know of someone I don't.
Now, a number of players have left after the 2016 and 2017 seasons, notably Lowary, whose departure gutted our pitching staff for the next two years. But she clearly left because she had had it with EE, not because she felt like he had been treated unfairly by the school or had concern the AD wasn't supporting him enough lol.
So explain to me this simple question: how has the roster of this team right now been affected by the drama of 2016? No recruits in the 2017 and 2018 classes bailed on us. And recruits are generally locked in and verbally committed years prior to coming here.
If you were saying this 2 years from now, and including examples like pitching phenom Danielle Williams, you might have a valid point.
But the entire roster now, and the overall lack of talent and depth, and the pitching staff, are all EEs players, minus of course the players who have left, none of whom I can assure you left because of "what the AD was doing to EE". He got everyone he went after and got verbally committed before the 2016 drama. Our future recruiting classes may well be affected by what you allege. But not the current team. The one that went 29-28 last year and nay not even finish at .500 this year.
This years team, and last years, is all on EE.
