If he had simply done that and held on he would have been fine. Start backing up to run out the clock and ...
Another mistake I see guys make is getting outside of solid position on the edge of the mat thinking the edge will protect them.
In Leeth's case it is unfortunate because he was the better wrestler the entire match until then.
