Softball plays Illinois today in St. Charles...

doubleheader at 2pm and 4pm. Really need to take care of business today and get back on the winning track before a big home weekend with Miss State.
This is the kind of opponent we need to sweep, in the worst way. They are only 11-8 on the season, have beaten no one of any real consequence. They split with Pitt and North Carolina in the B1G-ACC challenge. They have lost to 6 unranked teams, although Louisville is at #26, just outside the top 25. Their other 2 losses were to our weekend opponent, #21 Miss State last weekend, 9-5 and 12-1.
They have 2 pitchers who have started all of their games, both juniors, ERAs of 2.79 and 5.04, nothing special against a pretty weak schedule overall. I will be very disappointed if we don't generate a lot of offense today. Will be a good experience for our pitching staff to throw against a pretty average offense and maybe get some confidence and momentum rolling into the big SEC series this weekend in Columbia.
