Had a guy and his wife walk one of the trails in the largest county park. He had heart "issues" and went down midway through a 3 mile hike. His wife had to run to the end where they started to seek help.

Ranger and supervisor on duty got the call from our staff meeting and ran out to respond. Got there, started CPR, one of them threw up. Took a long time for MedAct to make it and they had a spine board for transport.

We ended our staff meeting early and went to the park to assist. I took the patrol boat to where I thought was close and had one sound his traffic whistle and was able to get near. Still had to pass the guy on a spine bord from the shore to the boat--no way to beach the boat--and I was in water up to my hips...and had to toss my gun/holster to others on the boat.

Loaded up the guy, 3 paramedics, and the 2 rangers and headed to the boat ramp to meet the funeral home employees.

Ah, fun times.
