In the biggest game, #6 Tennessee took down #9 South Carolina on the road, 86-70. SC was without AA Aja Wilson, was down by 18 in the second half before closing the margin to 4 points with nearly 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter, then UT pulled away for the final margin. Still SC fought pretty hard without their best player. However, they look as different without Wilson as we do without Sophie. Still, a huge win for UT, with games still coming up against Notre Dame on the road and Miss State at home.

And Georgia had a huge win on the road against #17 TAMU, finally getting their first signature win of the season, 92-84 in OT. I'm surprised TAMU didn't play better, coming off their huge win over previously undefeated Tennessee Thursday night. Maybe they didn't take Georgia seriously enough. But the Bulldogs really showed me something I wasn't sure they had, the ability to take down a top 25 team, on the road no less. They pretty much took it to the Aggies all game long, in a very impressive performance. It took a fluke banked 3 pointer by TAMU in the last seconds of regulation and Georgia missing 2 wide open shots in the last 10 seconds to even get the game to OT. One of Georgia's talented freshmen poured in 37 points in a pressure situation on the road.

Georgia is now 16-2, is going to crack the top 25 poll today for the first time, and their RPI rank today is up to #21 in the nation, up 13 spots from a week ago. They are going to be a handful when we play them in Athens on Jan 25. They were projected as a #8 regional seed in the first ESPN bracketology two weeks ago. Right now I think they would be projected as a #6 seed.

In other SEC games, #4 Miss State took care of Alabama at home as expected, I think MSU is the most complete team in the conference this year and is going to win it all. LSU won a critical game on the road at Florida, a loss would have really damaged their NCAA hopes. Auburn on the other hand took an awful loss at home to Arkansas; with an RPI rank today of 109, Auburn isn't even in the conversation anymore as a potential bubble team, even with that great pressure defense of theirs.
