RE: What went down w Warren Powers?

I posted this a few years ago, but I will post it again.
I lived in Joplin at the time. Dewey Combs was our HS coach and he had some really talented players. He won several State Champs. He had the same type of run at Parkwood as Webb City has had. Just not as long. Dewey was a farmer and retired to it.
My issue with Powers is we had Alan Cockrell QB, went to TN and started most of 3 years. A DT named Tupper that eventually was an AA at Oklahoma. A WR, whose name I can't remember that went to Okie lite and started 3 years. A Full back that went to, gasp ... kansas, but tore up a knee in first scrimmage which was before all the great successful surgery techniques that fixes those and never played again. Powers wouldn't come down to Joplin to check them out. 4 excellent talents, 3 of which went on to great success in P5 schools, but he couldn't come down to check them out.
