Onofrio could recruit really well.
But lose to average teams, and kU.

Powers couldn't seal the deal with recruits. He even recruited John Elway but couldn't get commitments. And yes, he had a drinking problem.

After all of Onofrio's recruits were gone, the cupboard was bare. He was a really good coach, but talent withered away.
