I have watched and re-watched all his games over the last two years, he flat out misses 5 to 7 open receivers a game. Especially with the deep ball.
Also, he almost never goes through a full field progression. I know he said the coaches opened that up for him this year, but watch the games yourself. He NEVER turns his head from one side of the field to the other during a passing play.
I want to be fair to the guy, he does have his share of amazing passes. He is a legit NFL QB talent and we are lucky to have him. Having said that, he has not developed the touch yet to really be dangerous.
In college ball if you don't have a first rate passer you cannot afford to not have a running QB. That is where we are right now, and that's part of the reason why our offense goes MIA for multiple quarters at a time.
In the end just look at his completion %, that's all you need to know. In my mind the drops are cancelled out by the great catches, and our receivers have had to make their share of great catches with him.
I am pulling for the guy. I genuinely hope with every game he can bring it all together, and he might be on the cusp of that, who knows. Ill be watching Saturday and hoping he finds that touch against Georgia.
