I envision a scenario where the Prosecutor and Defense found some common ground or traction but not the final resolution -- so you push back the plea hearing and schedule a "review" in the interim. Maybe the judge and Prosectuion want to see that Howard makes some progress on something - treatment, rehab, school? Who knows. But that review is when the Prosecution decides to go ahead and continue with felony charge or reduce to something that lets the kid stay in school and not ruin his life for a relatively minor offense.
