Trying to look at the bright side. At least we have another pitcher in that same class. And at least this isn't nearly as last minute as the Williams defection; EE still has some time to fill this spot if he wants to, her LOI wouldn't have been signed until November 2019.
No single transfer or decommittnent says much of anything, they all have unique reasons, most of which we never hear about completely. It's the pattern that hurts, and matters. And this will just add to the negative narrative of Missouri, fairly or not, that is out there and surely being pushed by other coaches on the recruiting trail. Just like Auburn is (rightly) being hammered now.
Here is a telling, and depressing fact (not related to this recent news of yours):
If Baumgartner stays with the team another 2 years, through her senior season, she will be the first high school pitching recruit at Mizzou to have stayed here through her senior year since Chelsea Thomas and Kristen Nottleman from the 2008-09 freshman class, and the only recruit to have done so in a span of 8 years of recruiting classes, from 2009 through 2016. That is just astonishing. Think about that. In an 8 year time span only one high school pitcher will have stayed with Mizzou all 4 years. Just one. I don't have the time or inclination to research that, but my guess is that is unprecedented among top 25 type teams.
That 8 year time period includes 3 years with zero pitching recruits (2009, 2010, 2012), and the transfers of Erwin, Stangel, Finucane, Lowary, and Conrad.
