My expectations are to hopefully make the NCAA tournament this year. We have a major influx of new talent but the existing core is coming off another of the worst 5 teams in program history so it won't be automatic. After that, even without MPJ, I hope we can continue to get enough talent to make the tournament again in year two. After that, we will see if Cuonzo has rebuilt the program.
The returning talent on our roster comes from historically bad teams. Even the most patient believed we would be .500 last year but we were not even close and couldn't compete with low-majors during the non-conference. Barnett, Puryear and Phillips put up their numbers on a team that would have finished in the lower half of the Sun Belt Conference. Certainly the coaching, player development, and new players will be much, much better but it will take some steps.
