rounds is capped at $100,000 which is good money but then as you say milb salaries aren't much and if pro baseball doesn't work out then he had probably run through some or most of the $100,000 with no degree to fall back on.
He does have one thing in his favor. Catcher is a position most players can't play. If his defense is solid he has a chance to make the show.
