I think he'll definitely start the season playing a lot of minutes. By conference season, I see him as the 6th man. Where I disagree with you is regarding his scoring. One on one, scoring is his strength as a player. He's not fast, doesn't have ball handling, doesn't have size or strength compared to other 4s and 5s...but he can get the ball in the basket, especially when he's not trying to play through a double team.
I don't think Tilmon or Jontay are going to play over Nikko, Puryear or Smith to start the season. By conference season, I could see a starting lineup of Phillips, Barnett, MPJ, Tilmon and Jontay however.
