I talked with several people today who was ragging Kevin for "losing the game" last night. I think we all probably learn to accept Kevin for what he is and not try to elevate him in our minds to be a superstar. Kevin is streaky, sometimes disappears on the court, lets his emotions affect his game and misses some shots incredibly close to the bucket. These things are hard for fans to watch.
What we need to remember is that he averaged 11.5 points and 4.6 rebounds last year and is averaging 11.2 points and 6.3 rebounds this year. His scoring average places him 34th on the list of SEC players.
Again he is what he is. Most teams would be happy to have a small forward with those stats
He hasn't improved this year but he hasn't declined either. We need to adjust our expectations because I think his career is going to be one of inconsistency.
