we will be losing 3 key seniors to graduation, who are holding this team together, L. Cunningham, Michaelis, and Doty.
On paper we could/should be better next year with the return of Frericks, but it's hard to predict what the dynamics of a team will be from one year to the next. And how the loss of those 3 key senior starters, 2 of them 5th year seniors, affects the team is unknown. This team is clearly exceeding expectations and developed their own identity. What next years team will achieve is anyone's guess.
But I'm very encouraged by the addition of Aldridge, who is reportedly going to give us a real true point guard which has been lacking. If Frericks returns at close to her old self we will be much stronger in the front court, although still thin there due to lack of depth, since the 7 new players in 2017-2018 are all guards. Look for big things from Elle Brown from Columbia Rock Bridge, I predict she will be the 5th starter next year, although it is clearly going to be hard to keep Amber Smith off the court, I really, really like her.
