I spoke with Willie Smith one day and he said the whole issue with Norm and St. Louis goes back to when some St. Louis players came to Mizzou and thought they were owed a starting position and didn't put in the work to earn it. According to Smith (and other African American players I've talked to), Norm wasn't a racist or anything of the sort. But he did expect you to put out the effort if you wanted playing time.

And if Columbia is such a racist community, how come so many former black Mizzou athletes decided to live here after their playing days? Just another urban legend spawned by people with an axe to grind.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
