10. 2008-09 Missouri
2007-08: 16-16
2008-09: 31-7 (NCAA Elite Eight)
In 2007-08 the Missouri Tigers were a bit of a disappointment, missing the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. Having graduated a significant chunk of their roster, expectations were not high for the Tigers heading into 2008-09 as the team featured five freshmen and two transfers.
But Missouri’s deep roster fit perfectly for coach Mike Anderson’s “fastest 40 minutes in basketball” style. The Tigers scored 81.5 point per game that season, fifth most in the nation, with contributions from just about everyone up and down the roster. After winning the Big 12 tournament Missouri secured a 3-seed in the Big Dance. Once there the Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight, where they fell to top-seeded Connecticut. It was the first 30-win season in Mizzou history and still the program's most victories in a single season.
