A humiliating 30 point beat down from a mediocre team? Not so much.
There are serious problems with this team without Frericks. That close loss to Georgia Tech? GT then lost by 40 points to an unranked Michigan team, on their own home floor.
This team is going nowhere near the NCAA tourney this year, and may be lucky to make the WNIT. They need to be well above .500 entering SEC play, because there are 7 ranked teams in the SEC and we are going to get pounded by pretty much all of them inside. I think we will be fighting to finish maybe 9th or 10th in the SEC this year. Mizzou is going to have a really good team a year from now if Frericks is fully recovered. Until then, prepare for a pretty bad season. Frericks injury shows just how fragile this teams fortunes are and how little margin of error we have.
To make this even a consistant fringe top 25 team Pingeton needs to step up her recruiting a lot. Particularly with big, fast, mobile inside players like the elite in the SEC have. Time to quit recruiting so many guards and get some size so we can hang inside with the best in the SEC.
