The vast majority of schools are great in one of the 2 major sports. kU hasn't played football since 2007. Kentucky is mediocre in football. Florida hasn't really been great in basketball since Donavan left. From my vantage point I see the switch to the SEC as the signal of football taking over the focus. The success Pinkel had in the Big 12 and certainly in the SEC has played a major role. Money talks.
