but the technique of the DL is a lot different as he's reading the block of the OL over him. It certainly makes for less of an "attack" defense but is very sound when executed correctly.

For example: An inside trap play

A DT lined up in a 3-technique (outside eye of the guard, the the B-gap) will read the guard. When the guard downblocks he will squeeze with the guard in order to close the space where the offense is trying to run the ball, making it harder for him to be trapped. In the old scheme, he just may be responsible for getting upfield and being disruptive, thus making the trap block easier and providing additional space for the offense to run.

On passing plays, the same DT still reads the guard and then when he sees him pass set, he then goes into pass rush mode.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
